New to Crowdfunding?
You're not alone. The JOBS Act was signed into law in April of 2012, allowing the regulatory changes needed to make Equity Based Crowdfunding possible. When the law goes into effect later this year, Americans everywhere will have a platform for investing in small businesses.
There are two types of investment options you'll find via Crowdfunding on EarlyShares:
Small Businesses: These are established companies with an existing track record. You'll be able to review their past performance, read how they'll use the funds, and make an informed decision about whether their businesses is a good investment for you.
Early-Stage Companies: Crowdfunding will give rise to a host of new ideas, allowing visionaries and inventors to try new business ideas. Obviously, not all of these companies will succeed, and investors should carefully consider the risks. On EarlyShares, you'll gain full access to their ideas, and decide for yourself if the idea and potential return warrants the risk.
On the EarlyShares platform, you'll be able to browse businesses looking for investment and choose which investments are right for you. You'll place your funds in an account, where they will wait while you choose which companies to invest in. For each company, you'll choose the amount of investment you want to make. Once the company reaches its funding goal, the funds you and others have pledged will be released to the company. In return, you'll receive shares in your new investment.
Ready to Get Started Crowdfunding?
So are we! But we'll both have to wait a little while longer. We're currently waiting for the Securities and Exchange Commission to complete their work, setting the regulations that will keep Crowdfunding fair and safe for everyone. They have a big job to do, working with industry experts to craft regulations for this new investment arena.
EarlyShares is the leader in Crowdfunding. The company was founded before the JOBS Act was even passed — we helped shape and support the law! Our work continues, consulting with the SEC and others to move the regulatory process to completion. In the meantime, you can still engage by registering now on EarlyShares. Your account gives you a front row seat to history-in-the-making as we keep you updated on the SEC process. You'll also be the first to gain access to our valuable education resources as they become available.
